I was in Palm Coast for the week, and everyone told me to stop in at the Anchor for lunch. The service was so-so, the waitress only checked on me when she brought my check. I ordered the Hawaiian tacos. The tortillas were burned... and I mean BURNED. The fries were so hard, you couldn't chew them. Worst experience ever.
Our favorite place to eat and chill out after our drive from Ohio. Best place to go between St. Augustine and Daytona. Very cool place, not your usual tourist trap. When the local eat there, you know it's good. And it is!
Went to the Anchor many times and gave great recommendations to my friends - great food, service etc. UNTIL this horrible older woman began seating everyone (Host). How embarrassing! She stares at you if you don't sit where she want you to. Very uncomfortable! We will go back to the Flagler Fish Company or Turtle Shack until this awful person is replaced with a friendly one, then we will go back!
I wanted to love this place, but certain things made my experience average at best. First, you pay a premium for food that is light portion-wise. You will not receive bang for your buck here. I could have taken one the rolls provided and knocked somebody out with it. Outside entertainment could barely be heard with music playing inside the establishment at the same time. Service was superior and one of the bright spots.
Service was good but the food was adverage. High prices for a small portion. Food was served warm not hot. We told the server of our complents but never had a manager come to the table. We sat by the front door that never closed when someone came in or out with the cool night air blowing on us.
Overcooked gooey Coconut Shrimp. Marmalade for dipping sauce was overly sweet. Swordfish was not a "fresh" fish. Two tiny little pieces of overcooked, over salty fish on a plate. You only get one side. Very pricey for very bad food. Manager never appeared to speak to us about our poorly cooked food although we were told he would be over. Very expensive and small portions compared to other restaurants in the area that serve the same items. Will never be going back.
We went as a party of 4 and waited about 10 minutes to be greeted by a server. Then we ordered our food and it took an hour just to get sandwiches and some fried shrimp. Pricing is high for what you receive, The food was decent a and little bit above average. Not sure if we will go back anytime soon but possibly one more time to give them another chance.
