We have now moved to Alaska but my wife and I sure miss Oceanside. It is by far the best place that i have ever eaten at. The food was always excellent as was the service. We would always eat there 3 to 4 times a week. I sure do miss it since we have moved to Alaska.
We usually go to Oceanside for Sunday breakfast or else we go to Sammy J's but Oceanside has the best omelet in town. Service has ALWAYS been good even when they are packed on Sunday which is very often. We've also been to Oceanside for lunch and again we find everything to our liking. They have recently expanded and now have an upper deck with a private room for catering. The deck which has a full bar overlooks the Atlantic with a wonderful view but unfortunately they only serve drinks upstairs. Guess they would have to add an elevator to get food up there without having to climb steps.
I have been to this restaurant several times. Food is good but the service has declined each time I have been there. The wait staff does their best but are always being micro managed by the owner. Last time I went there was on a Friday and we were told there was an hour wait. We took advantage of it and took a 40 minute walk by the beach. When we returned, we were still on the wait list, so we sat and waited. We decided to wait for an outside table ans the hostess had told us we were next. I watched a couple come in and give their name to the receptionist, and a few minutes later the owner came out and we could clearly see that she knew the couple well. As we were waiting, the owner came out again with menus and seated the couple at an outside table. I approached the hostess and she didn't even know what had happened and went around that way to see. She apologized and made a comment that the owner did that often. I called the fact that we were skipped over to the owner and she was harsh, stating that the hostess had told her they were next. She was almost angry that I had called her out on it. Knowing she was wrong, she got a tiny table and squeezed it in between 2 other tables, asking the customers to get up so she could move them. I wanted to leave but my friend suggested we stay because we had already waited close to an hour and a half and mind as well stay. Do you think the owner offered us a complimentary drink or appetizer in response to their lack or professionalism...not at all.
First time eating at Oceanside. It was very busy this past biker weekend but the service was fast which surprised me... food was good especially the pancakes... best in town so far and the staff was friendly including the owners. Will be back soon.
While the food has been above average, the customer service has declined, greatly. One of the new owners' son, Johnny, lacks concern-and has a complete disregard-for locals and their returning business. With the feeling that you're not valued as a customer-and the higher prices- this establishment is not recommended.
I had the Chicken Quesada and my sister had a shrimp salad. We were there for the Yappy Hour. The food was really good. I have one suggestion, try to tone down the noise factor. We went to this place before it changed hands and we walked out because of the noise. I know it's a beach bar and grill but all in the same we went there to eat. The staff and manager were great. Thanks, we will probably be back.
We just happened up on this restaurant by chance during Daytona Bike Week. The food was unbelievable. Had eggplant parmigiano; the best I have ever had. Absolutely hope we are in the area again so we can dine here again. The restaurant was packed but the wait was minimal and service was great.
